Perusing my WordPress reader this morning, I came across a post from Victoria at Addlepates and Book Nerds titled Thursday Quotables. This concept is perfect for me! I usually have an awesome quote from something I’m currently reading, but I hardly ever remember to write it down before the book needs to be returned to the library. Blogging about it weekly should help me to keep track of my favorite quotes. I’m going to bend the rules a bit and do four quotes, because Stargirl has so many beautiful lines.
“This was the start of a period that blurs as I try to recall it. Incidents seem to cascade and merge. Events become feelings, feelings become events. Head and heart are contrary historians.”
“Like so many of Archie’s words, they seemed not to enter through my ears but to settle on my skin, there to burrow like tiny eggs awaiting the rain of my maturity, when they would hatch and I at last would understand.”
“If someone spoke to me, especially if I had not spoken first, I wanted to cry. I had never realized how much I needed the attention of others to confirm my own presence.”
“I think you should try to be more like the rest of us, I said.
Why? she said.
Because, I said.
Tell me, she said.
It’s hard, I said.
Say it, she said.
Because nobody likes you, I said.”
Alright! Did you like these quotes? Do they make you want to read the book? If you have read the book, what did you think of it? (I just finished it today, so I’m still a little feel-sy.) This is a link to the most recent Thursday Quotables by Bookshelf Fantasies, the creator of this meme. In this post, she has a lovely quote from Cinder, as well as the rules for TQ participation. Go check out her blog, and I’ll be back next Thursday with a new quote(s) and (maybe) a review. Farewell!
Such terrific quotes! I read this book years ago, but seeing your post makes me want to read it again.

It’s so good! I’d tried to read another Spinelli book once (I think it was Loser) & I just could not get into it. But reading Stargirl I was like “man, this is gorgeous!” I can’t wait to get Love, Stargirl. Did you read that one as well?
