Thursday Quotables (the first)

Perusing my WordPress reader this morning, I came across a post from Victoria at Addlepates and Book Nerds titled Thursday Quotables. This concept is perfect for me! I usually have an awesome quote from something I’m currently reading, but I hardly ever remember to write it down before the book needs to be returned to the library. Blogging about it weekly should help me to keep track of my favorite quotes. I’m going to bend the rules a bit and do four quotes, because Stargirl has so many beautiful lines.

Book Review: Winter

5 out of 5 stars. Ages 13 and up.
Lots of minor spoilers; read with caution, especially if you haven’t read the rest of the books.

I didn’t get into The Lunar Chronicles until a while after Cinder was published. Even though friends had recommended this book to me for years, I’d never picked it up. Once I did though, I was hooked. I hadn’t read any YA Sci-Fi before this series, and I loved the freshness of the world. Not to mention the great characters you can’t help but love.

Book Review: Flora and Ulysses, the Illuminated Adventures

F & L blue

5 out of 5 stars. All ages.

I first read this book when it was released in 2013, but I wanted to reread and review it, and I’m so glad I did. Of course, I remembered the gist of the story but so many wonderful little details escape the web of memory. This is a fairly quick read with a lot of short chapters. I listened to it on audiobook in just a day. Still, it’s very touching in the way the characters develop, even in such a short amount of time.                                                         Continue reading

A Hello to the Blogosphere!

Hey!
I actually set up this blog-oooh, a week ago I believe-and haven’t posted anything. I have been tweaking the site so that it’s just so, but I didn’t expect any visitors so I kinda put off posting anything. Then, I decided to set up a Twitter account for this blog (with a link) even though I had no content. And then I got visitors to a content-less blog, so if you are one of those people and you’ve returned to see if I can redeem myself, I apologize. If you’d like, you can check out my other blog (which actually does have posts, though I haven’t updated it for a month). (You can decide whether it was foolish or ambitious to start a second blog.) Also, if you’d like to know more about yours truly, I have a profile page dedicated to just that. Please, take advantage and read my pompous autobiographical ramblings.

OK, enough sarcasm. I will aim to post my first book review by next week. If you have a book you’d like to be reviewed, go to the suggestions page and enter it into the handy little form there. Alright, thanks for reading!
